People hate it because it's unnecessarily drawn out. Enies Lobby was 56 chapters in the manga and took 46 episodes, so it covered 1.22 chapters per episode. This arc takes 118 episodes to cover 102 chapters, so it's 0.86 chapters per episode. Your comment about liking this arc is coming when there are still 74 episodes left in this arc. For people watching in real time, the arc started January 19th, 2014, this episode was released November 30, 2014 and the arc finished up June 9th, 2016. They started putting a ton of unskippable filler into the episodes (not full filler episodes, showing the same reactions, same flashback scenes,...) to keep the anime from catching the manga. If there were filler episodes you could at least skip them, or if they took time off, did seasons, released every other week, ... then they could accomplish the same thing and it would be better for the fans actually watching the content.

Its not unnecessary drawn out during this arc is when the anime started getting real close to the manga

While you are technically correct (the best kind of correct) about it not being unnecessary to draw things out, I clearly understood the catching up to the manga thing based on my comment. What I was saying was that it was drawn out for reasons that were unnecessary to the plot. There were solutions to it - skippable filler episodes rather than just the massive amounts of reactions, slowing down the release (whether by going seasonal, every other week, or going on a hiatus).
I'm still upvoting your comment because I'm a big fan of making comments that are technically correct while knowing that they don't add anything to the conversation and have nothing to do with what the person is talking about.

I mean I've made this discussion on the sub before but yes there are three big ways to handle waiting. Most of all three have happened. There was Naruto with fillers. Which atleast they technically fit being views on non important parts of the battle field in the ninja war. And infinite filler after the infinite tsukiomi. Both Bleach (lol its not coming back) and Fairytail, oh and black clover chose hiatus and I kind of respect them for that but bleach never came back, I was scared of fairy tail not coming back. And there's a chance (super small) that black clover won't come back. When it comes to one piece. Filler would probably be jarring. Unless they made very more unique anime only that I don't watch like boss luffy. Hiatus I feel like they didn't do because Oda wants to finish in 4 years, good luck sensei.

This is coming from a guy that has complained alot about the longest ten minutes in anime history that will be seen by most people who read this soon. And massively during the arc 3 arcs from now when we got the same 3 flashbacks like 10 times

But I get it. I do like they continue and some of the filler action or scenes are awesome and others not so much

I only realized just before Leo mentioned the name!! These little people dedication to their commander Toy Soldier was soo moving!! that brat sugar needs to be given beating!! the slime thing was soo disgusting snorting the mucous and is out of control!
